What is Riad?

Riads are old Moroccan family homes built around a central open-air courtyard (often with a fountain or pool). Inward-facing windows for privacy. Most riads in Marrakech and Fes are now boutique guesthouses โ€” $30-$200 per night. Atmosphere over comfort: tile floors, low beds, no elevators. The riad experience is part of visiting Morocco.
